Features
PEET is capable of computing 3-axis pointing, line-of-sight or relative positioning error budgets based on the methodology in the ESA Pointing Error Engineering Handbook (PEEH). The key features of how the tool supports the error engineering process in compliance with ECSS-E-ST-60-10-C throughout the analysis steps (AST) in the ESA PEEH are:
- Characterization of pointing error sources (AST-1)
- Complete coverage of random variable error source classes in ECSS-E-ST-60-10-C with various ensemble distributions of parameters
- Extension to random processes and dedicated treatment of periodic disturbances according to PEEH
- Suitable for different project phases (by adaptation to match available information/need for detail)
- Automated separation of time-constant and time-random source contributions
- Interface for data import from MATLAB® workspace and spreadsheet (e.g. Excel®)
- Transfer analysis (AST-2)
- Provision of database with generic (static/dynamic) and specific (sensor/actuator) models
- Extendable database and grouping for subsystems
- MIMO transfer of random variable and random process contributions
- Pointing error index contribution (AST-3)
- Coverage of all pointing error indices and statistical interpretation types as defined in ECSS-E-ST-60-10-C and PEEH.
Version 1.1 also includes metrics for a further subdivision of relative pointing errors (included in the coming PEEH
release as part of an on-going update):
- expected and instantaneous errors within a time-window
- linear trends and residual jitter within a time-window
- Automated evaluation and parallel definition of multiple index and interpretation combinations
- Accurate treatment of contributions from random processes and periodic signals by application of metric filters for time-windowed error analysis
- Coverage of all pointing error indices and statistical interpretation types as defined in ECSS-E-ST-60-10-C and PEEH.
Version 1.1 also includes metrics for a further subdivision of relative pointing errors (included in the coming PEEH
release as part of an on-going update):
- Pointing error evaluation (AST-4)
- Standardized summation rules compliant with the PEEH - which account for correlation between axis and error sources – avoid typical discussions on how to sum contributors
- Accurate determination of random process variance contributions
- Customizable confidence levels (e.g. 1-/2-/3-Sigma)
- Visualization of different error signal contributions in a dedicated tree scheme
- Reporting functionality with export to Excel®
The main updates of PEET 1.1 cover:
- Specific support for telecommunication missions (analysis features)
- Implementation of a user-defined post-processing feature that allows integrating own algorithms
- Improved user-friendliness based on received feedback (editing, reporting, plotting)
- Faster evaluation for quick-assessments (skipping auxiliary results and/or using lower resolution) and batch-mode operation
- Extended metrics for time-windowed relative errors
- Specific support for selected transient error types
- Contribution analysis for each error source and contributor blocks (percentage of contribution to total error)
